The Hendrix of the Sahara
Vieux Farka Touré has turned the guitar into a bridge between the musical traditions of Mali and new sonic territories. On October 28th, he arrives at Teatre l’Aliança del Poblenou with a performance that connects Malian rhythms with blues, rock, and influences from other cultures.
Son of the legendary Ali Farka Touré, one of the greatest icons of desert blues, Vieux has built his own musical language, becoming one of the most prominent guitarists on the current African scene. Known as the “Hendrix of the Sahara”, he has collaborated with artists such as Dave Matthews, John Scofield, or Khruangbin, with whom he released Ali (2022), a tribute album to his father.
With a musical style and a live show that keep the bond with his roots alive while continuing to explore new paths, Vieux Farka Touré brings to the stage the sheer power of a guitar balanced between tradition and experimentation.
